Pearsall, Texas Pipeline Explosion Kills 1, Hospitalizes 2
A pipeline explosion in Pearsall, Texas, has claimed one worker’s life and left two others hospitalized.
The incident involved a pipeline owned by Targa, a Houston-based company. It happened around noon on Tuesday, January 31, as crews from Corpus Christi-based Nexus Integrity Management were working on the pipeline. Although the cause of the explosion is under investigation and has not been released to the public, some speculate it may be related to a leak.
Pearsall, a city of about 7,600 residents, is located in Frio County about an hour outside of San Antonio in South Texas. The pipeline that exploded was located near East Highway 85, close to FM 1582.
The San Antonio area office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Texas Railroad Commission are investigating the pipeline explosion.
