Arnold & Itkin Wins Third Historic Roundup Verdict
Today, a Philadelphia jury in the court overseeing Roundup cancer claims handed down a $78 million verdict in favor of our client, William Melissen. Jason Itkin of Arnold & Itkin and Thomas Kline of Kline & Specter led the charge against Bayer/Monsanto in this case, securing the firm’s third record-setting Roundup verdict since the Philadelphia mass tort litigation began.
Our firm’s victories now make up half of the total cases heard by the Philadelphia court.
After Jason and his team presented the comprehensive body of scientific evidence that proves a link between non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and glyphosate exposure in a month-long trial, Jason implored the jury to act decisively to right the wrong committed against William.
“For the rest of your lives, you may never have the opportunity and power to do so much good. There’s a catch: the opportunity is only good if you use it. Whether it’s five days or five years from now, you don’t want to read something on the news, see a product on the shelf, see someone go to the hospital and say, ‘Did I do enough?’”
The jury, after careful deliberation, found that Roundup gave our client cancer after decades of household and commercial use. The jury handed down $3 million in compensatory damages and $75 million in punitive damages against the infamous chemical manufacturer, which still insists that glyphosate (Roundup’s main component) is safe to use.
“We are deeply grateful to the jury for standing up to Monsanto and holding them responsible,” said Jason. “This verdict sends a powerful message: profits cannot come before the health and safety of real people and their families. We can only hope this serves as a strong deterrent against Monsanto’s continued sale of dangerous products.”
A New Beginning for Another Roundup Cancer Victim
Our firm is thrilled for William, for whom this eight-figure verdict represents real justice. After decades of Monsanto evading accountability for selling a product it knew was dangerous, the people who’ve been harmed by Roundup are getting their day in court. What remains is for firms like ours to ensure a client’s moment in court leads to recovering all they’ve lost and suffered.
With our third record-setting Roundup verdict, Arnold & Itkin has proven we’re the premier advocate for victims of glyphosate exposure. We look forward to continuing the fight against Bayer/Monsanto on behalf of the many, many Roundup cancer patients who deserve justice.
