Kurt Arnold & Jason Itkin Honored with 2024 Alumni Award from Texas Law

Out of 25,000 alumni, the University of Texas School of Law recognizes an honoree every year in the following four categories: Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding Alumnus/Alumna, Community Service, and Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna. However, this year, Dean Bobby Chesney has chosen to present a special dean’s honor recognizing our firm’s founders for their extraordinary contributions to plaintiffs’ law.

Texas Law honors alumni for exceptional achievement professionally, in legal practice, and within society at large. As one of the largest alumni networks for any law school in the United States, the breadth and depth of alumni contributions to legal practice nationwide is impressive. It’s an incredible honor for Kurt and Jason to receive the 2024 Alumni Award, even more so in a category recognizing the social importance of plaintiffs’ law.

Other honorees this year include:

• The Hon. Royal Furgeson (’67), former federal judge for the US District Court for the Western District of Texas and founding dean of the College of Law at the University of North Texas at Dallas
• Arleas Upton (’82), former COO of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and trustee for the University of Texas Law School Foundation
• David Hall (’69), former director of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid who committed an enormous amount of his legal career to the underprivileged and underserved up to his passing in 2023
• Brittany Perkins Castillo (’13), founder of disaster response and emergency management company AshBritt

Kurt, Jason, and the other honorees will be presented with their awards in a ceremony on November 8 at the Thompson Hotel in downtown Austin. Arnold & Itkin is grateful to the Alumni Association President Blair Richardson Loocke, Dean Bobby Chesney, and the Alumni Association Executive Committee for organizing the annual awards dinner and for recognizing Kurt and Jason’s contribution to the practice of plaintiff advocacy.
